Originally from Japan this is a form of hands-on channelled healing. Dr Usui developed this healing from ancient Buddhist teachings and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching it. Reiki has received numerous endorsements from doctors and the medical professions and is currently used in hospitals, clinics and health and fitness centres.

It works within the Eastern approach to health and it helps maintain health by restoring balance in the body. The word Reiki means Universal Life Energy and is also referred to as Ki. This energy is within and around all living things. The same Chi or Prana is used in Tai Chi, yoga and other energy body work. It works on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

What can be treated?

Reiki is a simple, safe, non-intrusive, and effective method of hands-on healing, for people of all ages. It helps release stress and brings about a deep sense of relaxation.

It’s beneficial for -
• Stress relief and tension
• Pain relief
• Easing long term conditions
• Helping injuries heal quicker
• Contributes to our journey of self awareness and problem solving
• Supporting all other forms of treatment both orthodox and complementary
• Helping release the emotional blocks that underlie many physical conditions

What to expect

Treatments can be lying down or seated, whichever is more comfortable. There is no need to remove any clothing, though you may wish to remove shoes and glasses to be more comfortable.

During the session the practitioner places their hands either on or above your body, in a sequence of positions. The whole body is treated in this way rather than specific symptoms.
