My name is Paul and I have had a career in Social Care, as a carer and Social Worker. I was introduced to Reiki by an old friend several years ago, undertook the training and last year became a Master Practitioner. The further that I explored Reiki, the more it interested me from a Buddhist perspective. For me, the most important element is acknowledgment that the body heals itself, given the right conditions; relaxation and the channelling of the Universal Life Energy we called Chi. This integrated well with my chosen Buddhist framework of understanding.
I believe that a Reiki session is time-out in the most literal sense. It is stepping outside, with the practitioner’s help, of the usual place that we find ourselves in; time & space. It can bring about profound changes in the way we perceive ourselves and, therefore, our bodily health. The body’s ability to mend itself can be accelerated, emotional wounds healed and energies enhanced.
I am also interested in A Course in Miracles which defines a miracle as a change in perception, a shift in the “normal” life experience. This, I believe, applies to Reiki practice in that, as the Course says; “All healing is Release from the Past” – whether that be a build up of tension, ailments that have psychological roots or emotions that take hold producing negative results. For a person to fully function Chi must flow freely to enliven and nourish the body, mind and spirit; Reiki frees that flow.
I offer Reiki sessions in a beautiful therapy room located 4 miles from Totnes. Sessions last from 45 to 90 minutes, depending on requirements. I like to offer a free initial interview. I am also a qualified counsellor.
